Haven’t posted anything recently, but I have been working – albeit slowly – on this neck. Clickitinate to embiggenify.
The headstock-to-neck area gave me some problems. Partly caused by not being able to plane the headstock to an even thickness using the Saf-T-Planer; my drill press really isn’t big enough to handle this piece.
A $9 spokeshave, with a couple hours of tuning, was a lot more efficient than the chisels and rasp.
Spokeshave, files, and sanding blocks, and got it to a final shape.
Or so I thought. Backlighting shows asymmetry around the heel (since improved, but still imperfect) and a surface completely covered with sanding scratches. Well, this is only sanded to 150.
